Long before she went on to wow Broadway in “My Fair Lady” and “Camelot”—let alone pick up an Oscar for her first film role as “Mary Poppins” and go on to star in the beloved 1965 film version of “The Sound of Music”—a young, unknown British ingénue named Julie Andrews made her Broadway debut in a musical called “The Boy Friend” back in 1952. Now 70 years old and no longer able to sing since vocal-cord surgery following her final performing run in the stage version of “Victor/Victoria, ” Andrews returns to the area for the first time since appearing here in that show, directing a touring version of the show that began her long musical career.
