What better way to mark the Independence Day holiday than a visit to the galleries of the Museum of Contemporary Art, where U.S. Navy veteran Emily Siefken kicks off a four-week performance art series called “Here/Not There” with “Tomb of the Known, ” a lamentful march to honor the life and death of female military casualties of the Iraq War. Most of the performances will take place within the galleries themselves, but on the evening of Independence Day itself, Siefken will march the ceremonial walk enacted at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Washington, D.C.’s Arlington National Cemetery on the large plinth in front of the museum.
