Rob Little walks a strange line as a standup comedian—on first look, at both his hefty frame and resume (he’s been featured on Fox’s “Best Damn Sports Show Period”), he seems a little more “man of the people” than “cutting edge comic.” He seems more of a Larry the Cable Guy than a Patton Oswalt. But seeing his act reveals a much deeper and more original persona—he’s self-deprecatory and insightful, and has a giggle that you’d never expect to come from the tough guy he looks like. He’s still not exactly a paragon of high comedy—his latest DVD/CD is called “Haulin’ Ass,” and you may have seen him hawking Snickers in a speedo for their commercial. But when most low-brow guys are out there throwing around Southern catchphrases and cashing in whenever, Rob Little does just enough different to show he really cares about how to do good stand-up.
