Zanies Comedy Club will honor its thirtieth anniversary of cracking people up this November with a yearlong celebration that includes offering its star-treaded stage up to some not-so-funny people. On February 25, ten “zany” Chicago attorneys will have a chance to try their case in a different court, as standup comedians in front of a live audience. “We thought it would be funnier or zanier if we picked occupational categories that people don’t traditionally associate with humor,” says Bert Haas, vice president of the Zanies comedy empire. Zanies will also choose ten of the funniest doctors or dentists in April, educators in June and accountants in August. “We wanted to do one for zaniest mortician but we didn’t think we’d have enough entries,” he says. “I hoping to see some very funny people that I’ve never seen before. There are a lot of people who have talent and don’t want to pursue their dream, and hopefully this will give them a shot at that dream.” Enter at chicago.zanies.com, deadline is February 18.
