Calling all wiggly cowpokes. Time has come to mosey on over to Lifeline Theatre. “The Dirty Cowboy” has taken the stage and wrangled some grade-A children’s theater. Based on the book of the same name by Chicago writer Amy Timberlake, and adapted by James E. Grote with music and lyrics by Victoria Delorio and Jane Baxter, this musicalization is packed with quirky, participatory songs that keep the little ones totally engaged. The story of a young cowboy and his best friend Eustace, a dog with a perceptive nose, turns to hijinks when the boy takes a bath and Eustace no longer recognizes his pal. This is all part of Lifeline’s KidSeries, aimed at extending the theater’s mission of literary adaptations to children. For those theater supporters out there that know the power of subscription to the nonprofit performing arts, this series is a great way to impart that appreciation to your children or grandchildren in a way they are sure to enjoy. This one might even make bath time a little more fun. (William Scott)
