Riding high on the explosive success of “Boobs and Goombas, ” the Geek Girl Burlesque brand expands to present this stripped-down (literally) take on the popular television show “Glee.” Parodying such a snarky show is a risky move, especially when singing and dancing is involved, but not only can these girls move, most of them have surprisingly powerful pipes as well (for which the lack of mics is regrettable). The paper-thin plot, involving the decision by the outcast Glee girls to raise money to get to nationals by burlesquing in local clubs, has no shortage of laugh-out-loud moments, but lacks the nonsensical cohesion that drove “Boobs and Goombas.” The major seller here (and what makes Geek Girl Burlesque so delightful) is the titillating mixture of satirical comedy and boobies—perfectly captured in elements like a wheelchair-bound solo, a number with a stripping pregnant cheerleader, and some dazzling Star of David pasties.
