Here’s the press release from Corn Productions:
Corn Productions has made it to 20! Founded in 1992, Corn has continued to bring original comedy to Chicago through three new Presidents, two Iraq wars, and one heck of a lot of laughs. Corn is celebrating twenty long years with a spectacular season that honors our mission to produce new works and celebrates our history with some slammin’ Corn classics. So, be prepared for a 20th season that will prove, once and for all, that Corn Productions is the best thing to ever come out of the early nineties.
In September, Corn will out comeback Bon Jovi with the second coming of our Summer smash hit—Jesus Camp: the Musical..
Come October, Corn’s Halloween shows will take over faster than Seattle grunge. First, Corn promises to put Nirvana to shame the the launch of Nightmares on Lincoln Avenue 3: Calculated Ramblings of an Unsound Mind. A follow-up production more haunting than Nevermind—Nightmares 3 will paralyze audiences with spine-chilling sketches loosely based on alarming true stories from Chicago’s own haunted past. Then, our late-night drinking game performance—Death Toll—will make them guffaw and jeer with delightfully-tasteless hilarity more potent than a well-timed Kurt Cobain joke.
Corn’s Spring main-stage is up in the air and ready to slam dunk harder than Michael Jordan. It may not be determined, but it will definitely be something you do not want to miss. And when Summer heats up like the ’92 Playoffs, Corn will be ready to rebound faster than the Chicago Bulls with the crassly-comical Corn classic—Bodily Functions: The Musical.
In between these magnificent main-stage shows, Corn’s calendar is packed year-round with more laugh nuggets than every episode of “Beavis and Butthead” combined. We will be continuing all of our long-running hits including the Original Improv Gladiators, The New Years Eve Cornstravaganza, Corn Gives You VD, and Off the Paddy Wagon: A Drinking Game Performance. And, for those looking for G-rated guffaws, our Saturday and Sunday afternoons always bring more family-friendly fun than “Full House”—starting in September with the side-splitting and imaginative Bobby Corn and the Mystery of Da Nile.
The nineties may have gone by the wayside, but Corn Productions is still standing and going strong. So, join us at Cornservatory—4210 N Lincoln Avenue—as we celebrate two decades of Corn. And remember, as always, we are BYOB.
