Set in a Florida cornfield on Halloween Night, Orange Orbs follows two teenagers who find a baby abandoned in a hollow pumpkin. As they set out to return the infant to its rightful guardian, they encounter a pair of spectral figures who ensnare them in a feud that’s older and bloodier than the fields themselves. Part southern gothic horror story and part coming-of-age tale, Orange Orbs examines how quickly terrifying events can force adolescents into adulthood.

This Spring, Tympanic pairs ten playwrights with ten Chicago directors to create a piece of theatre inspired by Bruce Springsteen’s legendary album, Nebraska. Each writer uses a song from the record as a springboard for a short play before an ensemble of musicians composes original music based on the plays themselves. Deliver Us From Nowhere is a meditation on how art reflects art; a live album in the most unique sense of the word and a celebration of rock and roll that is rustic, eerie, and seething with story.
OUR MISSION
The Tympanic Theatre Company is dedicated to producing new work with fantastical, frightening, or absurd subject matter that provokes as well as entertains. We invite our audience to explore new theatrical worlds of fresh, visceral storytelling, and extraordinary characters.
