It’s been a fruitful year for budding choreographers, starting with Hubbard Street’s “danc(e)volve” program in January, then the Link Up residency at Links Hall in March and this weekend with The Dance COLEctive’s showcase of in-house talent. Incubating and presenting the creative gifts of her company members is nothing new to Margi Cole, who made nurturing and promoting the creativity of emerging artists a bullet point in her company’s mission statement and whose “COLEctive Notions” program is an annual event. And because many of the young choreographers in the COLEctive make new pieces each year, those who follow the company can witness artistic growth in action. Returning this year with new work is Molly Grimm-Leasure, who explored subjectivity in art viewership by asking dancers to respond to her abstract paintings in words and movement throughout the making of the piece. Kaitlin Bishop also returns with a solo placed on Maggie Koller about childhood sadness and how it shapes the grown-up to come. Shannon McGuire, Alaina Murray and Melissa Pillarella also have pieces in the program. (Sharon Hoyer)
