Mordine & Company present a dance amongst the ruins in this year’s showcase of emerging talent. Each year, an up-and-coming choreographer works with the dancers under the mentorship of Shirley Mordine, who founded the company over forty years ago. This time the mentee comes from within: Mordine & Co. dancer Mary Kate Sickel. Ms. Sickel’s work will be presented in the atrium of the elegant salvage treasure trove Architectural Artifacts (the setting perhaps a nod to the endurance of Chicago’s longest-running modern dance company), along with a new piece by Mordine entitled “Visitors.” Also on the program are self-choreographed solos by former company members Judith Mikita and Scott Putman, who danced with Mordine in the eighties and nineties, respectively and return for this one-night event.
