The creative bounty of autumn is celebrated at the third annual Harvest Chicago Contemporary Dance Festival: a cornucopia of companies and solo artists both up-and-coming (like recent Columbia College grad Jordan Reinwald) and established (like Same Planet Different World, which turned fifteen this year). The gang’s all here, from acrobatic Aerial Dance Chicago to multi-disciplined mash-uppers Chicago Dance Crash. And although Chicago is in the title, guests from around the country will be at the table, including Jacksonville Dance Theatre from Florida, hip-hoppy Good Dance Since 1984 from New Orleans and the formidable Ingrid Graham from LA. The fest also provides a ripe setting for familiar faces to play under nom de plumes; Giordano’s Artistic Associate Autumn Eckman appears as Deep Dish Dance; Marc Macaranas, a familiar collaborator with many Chicago-based companies, is/are The Visitor(s). Come hungry: there are nine to ten courses on the menu each night, with no repeats. (Sharon Hoyer)
