1 Giselle (Harris Theater) English National Ballet returns to Chicago for the first time in over thirty years with a real stunner: Akram Kahn’s take on the tragic story-ballet that bends Western classical technique with Indian Kathak and features an original score performed live by the Chicago Philharmonic. 2 Hubbard Street Dance and Malpaso Dance Company (Auditorium Theatre) A first-time collaboration between Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and Havana-based Malpaso has each company performing new pieces by each other’s choreographers, as well as selections from repertory. March 2 & 3
3 La Femme Dance Festival (Green Line Performing Arts Center) Red Clay Dance Company’s biennial festival of new works features short pieces by emerging female choreographers of color and is a highlight of the Green Line Performing Arts Center’s inaugural season. March 15 & 16
